Lexington, South Carolina, is buzzing with positive news as the Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment announces the appointment of its new executive director, Jessica Hudson, BCBA. With over 16 years of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Hudson is set to lead the organization into a new era, focusing on expanding its mission to support individuals with autism across all stages of life.
Jessica Hudson is a familiar face in the Midlands, originally hailing from Lexington. She comes to this role with an impressive background, having most recently served as the Director of Clinical Operations for the Autism Center of Excellence in the Raleigh-Durham area. Her previous positions include being the Clinical Director at BlueSprig Pediatrics in Greenville and Co-Director of Staff Development at Carolina Behavioral Specialists.
With her extensive experience, Hudson is excited about the opportunity ahead. “The Unumb Center is renowned nationally and globally for its impact in the autism community,” she expressed. “It’s an honor to lead this organization as we expand our mission to serve individuals across all stages of life. I look forward to building on the strong foundation Lorri, the board, and her team have built.”
Current board chair and founder, Lorri Unumb, couldn’t be more thrilled about Hudson’s arrival. “We are delighted to welcome Jessica back to the Midlands to lead The Unumb Center during this exciting period of growth,” she said. “Her expertise in clinical operations, combined with her passion for serving individuals with autism and their families, makes her the perfect choice to guide us into the future.”
Since its inception in 2010, The Unumb Center has evolved significantly. What started as the Autism Academy of South Carolina has developed into a comprehensive resource for the autism community. The Center is dedicated to providing exceptional ABA therapy and addressing gaps in available services. Recognizing the need for services extending beyond childhood, The Unumb Center is gearing up for a brand-new chapter in its journey.
Earlier this year, The Unumb Center took a huge step by purchasing a 10-acre property in Lexington, aptly named Unumb Place. This new facility is specifically designed to cater to adults requiring long-term care, featuring six on-site homes to ensure a comfortable living environment. With renovations well underway, the Center plans to welcome its first residents in the spring of 2025.
“Unumb Place represents a significant milestone for our organization,” Lorri noted. “We’re creating a community where individuals with autism can thrive throughout their lives, supported by tailored programs and compassionate care.”
As the Unumb Center enters this exciting growth phase, community members are invited to learn more about their services and future initiatives by visiting the Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment website. This is a thrilling time for both the Center and the Lexington community, as they work together to provide essential support and services for individuals with autism.
With Jessica Hudson at the helm and exciting changes on the horizon, the future looks bright for the Unumb Center and the individuals they serve!
