IRMO, S.C – A 15-year-old high school student at Dutch Fork High School was arrested Thursday for having a loaded gun at school, according to Sheriff Leon Lott of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD).
School administrators were notified of the boy’s gun at around 11 a.m. on Thursday. They were told the student had brought the gun to school earlier in the week and had been showing it to other students. After school officials confiscated the student’s book bag, he admitted to having the gun inside. Administrators found the gun and confirmed it was loaded, RCSD added.
The student was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, possession of a pistol under 18, and unlawful carry of a firearm. He was taken to the juvenile wing at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
