COLUMBIA, S.C. – Heads Up for Foggy Roads!
Today’s the day to grab your favorite warm beverage and take it slow on the roads, folks! A dense fog advisory has been issued for most of South Carolina this morning, and it’s not just a light mist you need to worry about. Visibility is down to a quarter mile or less, making driving a real challenge for many.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you’re hitting the road, you need to be extra cautious. The advisory is in place all the way until 9 a.m., so we recommend you set your alarm a little early and give yourself some extra time to get where you’re going. Slowing down is key. The last thing you want is to be rushing when you can’t see what’s ahead!
Keep those headlights on. Yes, even during the day! It might feel like overkill, but trust us, every bit of visibility helps when the fog rolls in. Also, try to maintain a little extra space between your vehicle and the one in front of you. It’s all about preventative measures to keep everyone safe on the roads!
When Will It Clear Up?
After a few hours of the foggy dilemma, we’re happy to report that it will start to lift around mid-morning. But don’t get too comfortable just yet! Those clouds are going to stick around, keeping things a bit gloomy for the rest of the day. It looks like highs will reach around 80 degrees today, so there’s a chance you’ll get some warmth alongside the cloud cover—just don’t expect to see much sunshine!
Weekend Weather Update
Now, as we step into the weekend, brace yourselves! Temperatures will take a little dip, landing in the lower 70s on Saturday. The skies will be partly cloudy, which is a nice trade-off from the foggy conditions we’re facing today. Sunday looks to be mainly cloudy, with just a tiny hint of a rain chance. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that any rain is more of a sprinkle than a downpour, but you may want to carry an umbrella just in case!
Heads Up for Veterans Day
Looking ahead to Monday, which is Veterans Day, it seems that Mother Nature is teasing us with some rain. The chance of precipitation will increase, so don’t forget your raincoat if you have plans to honor our veterans outdoors. Despite the potential rain, high temperatures will sit comfortably in the upper 70s.
Safety First!
As always, whether it’s fog, rain, or just another day on the road, taking care to be a safe driver is the priority. With these weather conditions in mind, stay alert and keep those precautions in check. The more we look out for each other on the roads, the better!
So, coffee in hand and cautious driving on your mind, let’s make it through this foggy morning together, residents of Columbia! Here’s to a safe journey and a cozy weekend ahead!
