Community Unites to Support Hurricane Helene Recovery Through One SC Fund

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Call to Help Our Neighbors in Need

In the heart of South Carolina, the community is coming together once again to offer a helping hand to those affected by the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Central Carolina Community Foundation has stepped up by actively accepting financial donations to the One SC Fund. Anyone wishing to contribute can do so by visiting www.OneSCFund.org, helping support vital nonprofit organizations providing immediate assistance to individuals impacted by this natural disaster.

What is the One SC Fund?

The One SC Fund isn’t just a lifeline for those in need; it’s a statewide disaster response initiative built through the dedication of philanthropic donors and corporate partners across South Carolina and beyond. When a state of emergency is declared, the philanthropic community rallies together, raising essential funds that go directly to nonprofit organizations working on the ground. In collaboration with the South Carolina Office of Resilience, these resources are strategically directed towards communities that need them the most.

Honoring a Legacy of Support

The One SC Fund has a rich history of aiding South Carolinians during tough times. Originally established in 2015 by the Central Carolina Community Foundation with support from then-Governor Nikki Haley, the fund was set up to respond to the catastrophic Thousand-Year Flood. Since then, it has provided assistance through several other challenges, including Hurricane Matthew, Hurricane Florence, and even the COVID-19 pandemic. With the recent activation for Hurricane Helene, the fund has once again become a beacon of hope for those in distress.

The Impact of Generosity

Thanks to the support from individuals and organizations, the One SC Fund has distributed a staggering $10,426,777 to nonprofits dedicated to disaster recovery projects. This incredible funding has enabled 868,847 individuals to receive help with basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare. Not to mention, 2,300 families have been able to return to their homes, find stability, and start the recovery process.

A Message From the Foundation

Georgia Mjartan, the president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the community’s resilience. “It is incredible to see how, in times of crisis, our community responds with overwhelming generosity, from first responders to neighbors helping neighbors. By giving to the One SC Fund, we can all support the local nonprofits doing the front-line work of recovery from Hurricane Helene,” she stated.

How to Donate

Those who are willing and able to help can easily make a charitable contribution to the One SC Fund. As donations pour in, nonprofits that are focused on relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts can apply for grants via www.YourFoundation.org/one-sc-fund. However, it’s important to note that individual applicants are not eligible for these grants, ensuring that support goes directly to organizations on the front lines.

Finding Help After the Storm

If you or someone you know is seeking assistance in South Carolina after Hurricane Helene, there are resources available for help. Local organizations are stepping up in droves to provide support for those in need. Whether it’s food, shelter, or basic necessities, the community is banding together to ensure no one is left behind.

As we face this challenging time together, every bit of help counts. By contributing to the One SC Fund, you are not just giving money; you are spreading hope and making a real difference. Remember, in times of trouble, we truly can uplift one another through kindness and generosity.
