Hey there, Columbia! The winter weather outside is looking just fine with sunny skies and temps reaching up to a comfy 52°F. As we roll into the last weekend before Christmas, the excitement in the air is palpable, especially with some incredible holiday events lined up. One of the highlights? That would be the spectacular Taylor Boys Christmas Extravaganza.
This year marks the 19th annual edition of this beloved holiday concert, and it’s shaping up to be quite the memorable one. The Taylor Boys have become a staple in our community, and it’s heartwarming to see how their music has raised over $38,000 for Toby’s Place, which is this year’s beneficiary!
Toby’s Place, a part of Oliver Gospel Mission, plays a vital role in supporting single women and mothers in Columbia who are facing challenges like poverty or homelessness. It’s amazing to see how community-driven events can make such a positive impact! Nicholas Charalambous, the Donor Relations Officer for Oliver Gospel Mission, shared, “We rely heavily on the generosity of our community to provide support for the women and children at Toby’s Place, and Taylor Boys Christmas Xtravaganza is a key source of that support.”
In just the last year, Toby’s Place assisted over 80 women and 100 children, providing them with shelter, meals, and crucial support services. It’s clear that events like the Taylor Boys concert not only entertain but also serve a higher purpose. From offering life-skills classes to providing medical care and spiritual enrichment, they do it all to ensure those in need have a safe place to land.
Steve Taylor, a familiar name around Columbia and one of the stars of the show, expressed his appreciation for this community-driven event saying, “Having lived in Columbia nearly all of my life, this community means a lot to me and my entire family. We’ve always come together to play music, sing and have fun around the holidays.”
With such a long-standing tradition, it’s no wonder that concertgoers mark this event on their calendars. It’s a night filled with music, laughter, and giving back—a perfect mix for those chilly winter nights!
As for the performance, you can expect nothing less than magic from the Taylor family. Joining the Grammy-nominated Joe Taylor, his brother Steve Taylor, and Steve’s son Stephen Taylor, the stage will also light up with talented local artists including Drew Dixon, Eddie Speaker, and Deb Varn, among others. This is sure to be a night you won’t want to miss!
If you’re interested in attending, tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at The Senate box office. And it doesn’t stop at just buying a ticket; you can also donate directly to Toby’s Place or consider being a sponsor. Check out the various sponsorship packages ranging from $250 VIP Tickets to $2,500 Platinum Packages. Your contributions help provide a brighter future for those less fortunate in our community!
As Columbia embraces this time of giving and celebration, let’s take a moment to appreciate the spirit of togetherness that events like the Taylor Boys Christmas Extravaganza nurture. So gather your friends and family, be part of this wonderful experience, and let’s make the holiday season a little brighter for those who need it most!
