Columbia Prepares for Rainy Mornings and the Return of St. Pat's Festival

Columbia Gears Up for a Rainy Morning and a Vibrant St. Pat’s Festival

Good morning, Columbia! As you step outside today, grab your umbrella because it looks like we’re in for a wet start. The weather forecast tells us to expect some showers and a possible thunderstorm through the morning. Hold onto your hats, as those storms could swing through with some strong gusty winds! The high today is looking cozy, around 70°F, accompanied by winds coming from the WSW at about 10 to 20 mph. But fret not; this afternoon, we’ll see things clearing up to partly cloudy skies which might just make your day a bit brighter. And for those who love cooler evenings, expect a low of around 39°F tonight as the winds calm down. It’s a 60% chance of rain, folks, so stay prepared!

This festival, known as South Carolina’s largest one-day festival, promises a day jam-packed with fun for everyone—yes, that means you, too!

For all you festival goers out there, mark your calendars, because general admission tickets go on sale at midnight on Black Friday, November 29. The best part? Last Year’s Success and What’s in Store

Last year’s festival brought together around 32,000 attendees from all around the Midlands, with over 2,200 eager participants in the Get to the Green race alone, hailing from 14 different states. Can you imagine the buzz of that crowd? It’s nothing short of amazing! But here’s the cherry on top: this fantastic event generates about $12.7 million for our city and Richland County, allowing the Five Points Association to give back more than $1.3 million to local charities over the years.

A Festival for Everyone

Heather McDonald, the executive director for the Five Points Association, summed it up beautifully: “St. Pat’s in Five Points is a celebration for all ages that brings together the Midlands community and beyond…” There will be lively music, mouth-watering food trucks, local artisans showcasing their work, and plenty of family-friendly attractions. From the renowned Get to the Green race and the vibrant St. Pat’s Parade to the enchanting Pot O’Gold Playland, there’s something for everyone.

Join the Fun!

So, if you’re feeling the excitement brewing for the upcoming festivities, why not get a head start?
