Columbia, S.C. Murder Investigation: Brother and Sister Charged

In Columbia, South Carolina, a man and his sister have been apprehended and charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a repossession agent.

The victims of the fatal shooting have been identified as Steve W. Hughes, 46, of Lexington, who was performing his duties as a repossession agent at the time of the incident.

Arrests Made

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has reported the arrest of Raheem DeAngelo Jackson, 20, and his sister, Essence Jackson, 19. Raheem Jackson faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

Additionally, his sister, Essence Jackson, has also been charged with murder. Authorities, referring to her as a “co-conspirator”, say that “she contributed to actions that occurred that evening.”

Tragic Scene

The deadly shooting took place on Wednesday, on the 7200 block of Fairmont Road in Columbia. According to the incident report, a deputy discovered a tow truck with its lights still flashing at the scene. The driver’s side door was open with bullet holes evident, and Hughes was found injured inside the vehicle.

Hughes was immediately transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but unfortunately, he couldn’t survive his injuries.

The Jackson siblings are currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center as investigations into the case continue.
