The City of Columbia has just shared some tasty tidbits about proposed revisions to their parking ordinance that will soon be discussed in an upcoming city council meeting.

Lower Prices for On-Street Parking

First things first, prepare for some pocket-friendly changes! Columbia is planning to lower the price of on-street parking from the current rate of $2.00 an hour to $1.50. Yes, you heard that right! Also, for those rushing to meet their friends for brunch or a day of shopping, the first hour of parking in all city parking decks will become absolutely free. That’s a win-win!

Expanded Parking Hours for a Little Flexibility

In a delightful twist, the city will suspend enforcement on Main Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday morning. This means you can roam the vibrant Soda City Market without a worry. Changes in Commercial Vehicle Permits and Increased Fines

$5.00 to $100.00. Ouch! Moreover, if you find your vehicle immobilized with one of those not-so-friendly parking boots, it’s going to cost you $75 to have it removed. That’s an increase that many drivers might not see coming!

Fines Going Up Too
