If you’re planning to catch the fireworks display, the best spot to witness this breathtaking show will be on the north side of the South Carolina State House. The perfect view awaits you at the intersection of Gervais Street and Main Street. With family and friends by your side, you’ll be swept away by the magic of the night!

Family-Fun Atmosphere

Road Closures for Safety

Additionally, Pendleton Street and College Street will be shut off to traffic between Assembly Street and Sumter Street beginning at 11 p.m.. This allows folks to stroll freely and enjoy the festivities without the worry of traffic. Those roads will reopen at 1:30 a.m. as well.

Finally, Gervais Street along the north side of the State House will close at the same time for ideal fireworks viewing, giving you a hassle-free spot to spread out your blankets and embrace the exuberance of the night!

Parking Perks!

Worried about where to park? Fear not! The city of Columbia is offering complimentary parking to make your New Year’s Eve adventure less stressful. Parking will be free in the downtown facilities—specifically, Lincoln, Park, Lady, and Sumter—starting at 5 p.m. on December 31. This offer lasts all the way through January 1, 2025, so you can enjoy the celebrations without worrying about the parking meter!

As a friendly reminder, regular parking operations will resume at 2 a.m. on January 2, 2025, so plan accordingly if you’re using street meter parking or other downtown facilities.
