As the weather ushers in a delightful chill, with sunny skies and temperatures hovering near 70 degrees during the day and dipping to a cozy 46 degrees at night, Columbia is preparing for what has become a cherished holiday tradition—the Fireflies Holiday Lights, presented by Lexington Medical Center. Tickets go on sale this Tuesday at 10 a.m., and if you’re as excited as we are, you’ll want to mark your calendar!
This year’s event promises to be “bigger and brighter than ever,” according to team officials. With over 30,000 guests participating last year, it’s clear that this festive occasion has already cemented itself into the hearts of many. Expect new lights and attractions beautifully spread around Segra Park, transforming the venue into a dazzling winter wonderland that will delight kids and adults alike.
One of the most exciting new features for this year is the Igloos on the Infield VIP experience. Imagine dining amid the colorful dancing lights during a cold winter night. Each igloo can host up to six people and features delectable goodies including a charcuterie board, bottomless hot chocolate, coffee, six bottled waters, and 12 freshly baked cookies. Plus, there will be options to buy packaged beer, wine, and canned cocktails. Sounds perfect for a cozy night out, right? The igloo experience runs from 6 to 9 p.m. each evening and costs $180 for a nightly reservation which includes six general admission tickets.
The Fireflies team hasn’t skimped on the food either! If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll be thrilled to know that fresh-baked cookies will be available at the concession stands. There’s also going to be warm bowls of homemade chili and chicken noodle soup to keep you toasty on chilly nights. They’re even offering delicious s’mores, including a family four-pack at a discounted price. What’s not to love?
And fear not! All your favorite activities from previous years will be making a comeback. Kids will have a blast writing their letters to Santa near the Lexington Medical Center Be Well Picnic Pavilion, while scavenger hunt cards can be picked up at Dukes Investigations Guest Services. For the crafty souls, free craft-making sessions are available in the MUSC Health Conference Room. There will also be warm fire pits featuring s’mores on the Crescent Patio, and don’t forget the Thermal Technologies Fireflies Express, which offers festive rides around the concourse.
The Fireflies Holiday Lights will illuminate Segra Park every night from November 15 through January 4, but be aware— there are a few days off during the season. The lights will be closed on November 18-21, November 28, December 25, and January 1. As for ticket prices, they remain unchanged from last year—just $10 in November and $12 for December and January. This means getting into the holiday spirit won’t break the bank!
So, are you ready to kick off the holiday season? Make sure to grab your tickets when they go on sale this Tuesday! For those interested in more information about the event, you can visit the official Fireflies Holiday Lights website. Gather your family and friends, bundle up, and take in the magic of the season at Segra Park this winter!
