Pet Lovers Rejoice!

First off, for all the pet owners in Columbia, Columbia Animal Services is hosting a free microchipping event this Sunday, September 22nd, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Columbia Animal Services located at 127 Humane Lane. This is a fantastic opportunity to ensure your furry friends are safely identified in case they wander off. Plus, it’s completely free!

And if you’re looking to adopt a new furry companion, don’t miss the 17th Annual Palmetto Peanut Boil on Saturday, September 28th! From noon to 6 p.m. at the 2900 Block of Devine Street, there will be free adoptions available. This event is hosted by Animal Mission, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Columbia Animal Services and their spay and neuter program. So, not only can you find your new best friend, but you’ll also be supporting a great cause!

Arts and Classes Galore!

For the creative souls out there, Alexandra’s Art Studio at 111 Sparkleberry Crossing Road is offering a variety of art classes for both adults and kids. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss out on the chance to express your artistic side!

Community Beautification Efforts

The City of Columbia is also making strides in beautifying our city! The Forestry and Beautification Department is currently accepting nominations for its Treasured Trees Program. They want to recognize trees that hold significant value to our Midlands community. Nominations are open until November 1st, so if there’s a special tree in your neighborhood, reach out to them at 803-545-3860 for more details!

Fun Festivals Coming Up!

Get ready for some fantastic festivals! On September 21st, Sunshine Anderson, a prominent soul singer, will headline the 46th Annual Jubilee: Festival of Black History and Culture at the Mann-Simons Site, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you love music and community, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Additionally, the Fall Plant and Flower Festival at the South Carolina State Farmers Market is happening from October 4th to 6th. Enjoy a lovely fall day exploring plants and flowers, all while supporting our local growers!

Support Groups and Community Meetings

For those navigating challenging times, there are wonderful support groups in place. The Survivors of Suicide Loss group meets the first Tuesday of every month for those seeking comfort among peers. So, if you or someone you know could benefit from connection, feel free to get involved.

Get Moving with Outdoor Activities

And for the active community members, don’t miss the Team Hope Walk hosted by the South Carolina Affiliate of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America on October 6th at Community Park of Irmo. Join in on this meaningful event and support a great cause while enjoying the beauty of our parks!

Whether you’re a pet lover, an art enthusiast, or simply looking to enjoy the beautiful fall weather, Columbia has something for everyone this week. Mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and get ready to make the most of what our lovely city has to offer!
