Columbia, SC – The heart of our beloved city is beating steadily, and along with its vibrant life, we’ve recently welcomed a number of announcements regarding local estates that need attention from creditors. It’s that time once more when we come together, share information, and ensure that any claims against estates are accounted for. This week, an important notice was published that we think you should know about.
Every year, as part of lawful procedures following someone’s passing, certain estates go through a process that allows creditors to claim any dues owed to them. This process unfolds in our Probate Court, and it’s vital for those who might have a claim against any of the listed estates to respond appropriately. A friendly reminder is in order: if you think you have a claim, you must act before the deadline, which is eight months from the first notice publication.
The notice lists different estates along with their Personal Representatives, who have been appointed to handle matters concerning each estate. If your name happens to pop up as a creditor of any one of these estates, you’ll want to deliver or mail your claims directly to these individuals. For convenience, you also need to ensure you file your claims using Form #371PC with the Probate Court of Richland County, located at P.O. Box 192, Columbia, SC 29202.
When you present your claims, remember that they must be in written form. Be sure to include:
Getting this information right can make all the difference!

These are just a few examples, and the list goes on. If one catches your eye, or if it pertains to you, don’t delay!
As always, we encourage everyone to take a moment and reflect on these important community details. If you think you might have a claim against any of the names mentioned, ensure you follow the necessary steps and get your claims in by the designated deadline. It’s all about being proactive and keeping our community thriving.
If you have any questions about the process or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Probate Court or your local attorney. Everyone deserves peace of mind, especially when it involves financial matters related to estates.
Keep checking in on community updates, and let’s continue supporting each other. Here’s to looking out for one another in Columbia!
