Good morning, Columbia! If you stepped out this morning, you might have felt the chill of damp air and a sprinkle of rain – and boy, did the forecast respond. With a morning high of 67°F expected, temperatures will be taking a little nosedive, eventually settling down to around 45°F. Don’t forget your jacket as we take on a cloudy and rainy morning!
Yes, you heard it right! There’s a 100% chance of rain today, with rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Maybe it’s a perfect day for that hot cup of coffee you’ve been waiting for. And if you’re one of the lucky fans of a good old-fashioned torrential downpour, well, locally heavy rainfall might just make your morning a bit more exciting!
As the rain starts to lighten up later, Columbia will experience a shift towards partly cloudy skies. Tonight, however, temperatures will drop to a cool 32°F. So, if you’re planning a late outing or a cozy evening, make sure to bundle up. A slight breeze coming from the west at 5 to 10 mph will remind us that winter is waving its hello!
Benjamin Wildt, the utilities communications manager for the City of Columbia, shared some handy details. “We’re really looking to enhance water pressure in the area,” he explained. The project is aimed to be completed within the year, and in collaboration with two contractors, they are taking proactive steps to ensure everything runs smoothly before the SCDOT starts resurface work on Trenholm Road.
