Columbia Hosts Enchanting Christmas Open House at Governor's Mansion on December 9th
It’s that wonderful time of the year again! Columbia, South Carolina is gearing up for a festive celebration that everyone in the community is invited to. Governor Henry McMaster and First Lady Peggy McMaster are throwing open the doors of the Governor’s Mansion for a dazzling Christmas Open House on Monday, December 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. And guess what? It’s completely free! No tickets or registrations are needed. Just come on down and join in the holiday spirit!
One of the best parts about this event is that it’s not every day you get to meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in such a warm, cozy setting! They’ll be there to spread joy and cheer, adding that little extra touch of magic to the evening.
To make things even merrier, musical entertainment will be provided by talented singers Trudy Wilson and Rhoda Paschal, who will serenade guests with beautiful holiday melodies all evening long. They will be accompanied by the lovely harpist Cayli Boyle whose enchanting music will fill the Mansion with the essence of Christmas. You won’t want to miss it!
What’s a holiday gathering without delicious treats? Visitors can enjoy light refreshments including comforting hot chocolate, scrumptious cookies, and delightful candy canes. It’s the perfect way to warm up while mingling with fellow guests and spreading some festive cheer!
In the spirit of giving, the first family has a request for Open House guests: consider bringing along some items to benefit furry friends in need! You can bring cat or dog food, litter, or even toys to be donated to Pawmetto Lifeline. There will be a collection point right at the entrance of the Governor’s Mansion, making it easy to lend a helping hand while enjoying the festivities.
The Columbia Garden Club has been hard at work, decorating the Governor’s Mansion for the holiday season. This year marks a long tradition, as the Charleston Garden Club has been bringing holiday cheer to the mansion every year since 1981. Expect to see beautiful Christmas trees from Penland Christmas Tree Farm in York, S.C., and vibrant poinsettias provided by the Gilbert High School Future Farmers of America. A special treat for December visitors will be a gingerbread house replicating Charleston’s own Pineapple Fountain.
But that’s not all! If you miss the Open House, fear not—regular docent-guided Christmas tours will be available. Mark your calendars for December 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19 with tour times at 10:00, 10:30, and 11:00 AM. These tours are also free of charge, but reservations are required. If you’d like to schedule a tour, simply call 803-737-1710 or book online at scgovernorsmansion.org.
This Christmas Open House is sure to fill your heart with holiday joy, bringing together families and friends for a night to remember. So grab your loved ones and head over to the Governor’s Mansion this December 9th for a magical evening filled with laughter, music, and all things festive!
