Exciting news is coming from Columbia, South Carolina! The Columbia Metropolitan Airport has announced plans to partner with a developer to construct a brand-new hotel right on airport property. This is a move that promises to significantly enhance the travel experience for everyone passing through.
The airport has chosen Alia Bostaji of Colliers South Carolina to help list and market the site designated for the hotel. This area is approximately two acres, ideally located at the corner of Airport Boulevard and Aviation Way. The hotel is envisioned to be a modern four-story building that will feature around 150 comfortable rooms.
According to Mike Gula, the president and CEO of the airport, this hotel will be a real game changer for travelers. “It will significantly ease the travel experience, particularly for those with early-morning or late-night flights,” he said. Gula highlighted the convenience of being able to arrive the night before, enjoy a restful stay, and then effortlessly walk to the terminal in the morning. Doesn’t that sound lovely?
The hotel site will not only be directly connected to the airport but will also offer seamless access to various parking facilities, making it a breeze for guests. Visitors can easily access main roads such as Platt Springs Road and Airport Boulevard, ensuring that they can get to their destinations quickly and efficiently.
Alia Bostaji shared additional insights about the project, emphasizing its role in responding to the growing need for quality accommodation near the airport. “The primary goal of this hotel opportunity is to enhance the overall experience and services at CAE for the growing number of passengers,” Bostaji stated. This project is part of a broader land development plan at the airport that aims to keep up with the increasing demand.
But that’s not all! The hotel is expected to offer plenty of amenities to make every stay enjoyable. Future guests can look forward to a fitness center to keep up with their workout routines, as well as meeting rooms for business travelers. And for those looking to unwind, plans also include a rooftop bar and restaurant that will showcase stunning views of the airfield. Talk about a perfect way to relax after a long flight!
It’s worth noting that Columbia Metropolitan Airport has seen a surge in passengers recently. Back in May, airport traffic exceeded all-time highs previously set in 2019. Such numbers underscore the urgency and importance of this new hotel project. With air travel becoming increasingly popular, the introduction of a nearby hotel will undoubtedly benefit many.
As the airport moves forward with this initiative, they’re on the lookout for a suitable hospitality developer who can bring this vision to life. The collaboration aims to not only improve the airport’s infrastructure but also provide travelers with a unique and enjoyable experience.
The future is bright for the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and the surrounding community. Imagine the convenience of a hotel right next door for those trading in long drives and stress for comfortable stays and easy access to catch flights. If all goes well, it looks like travelers in Columbia will soon have a wonderful new place to rest before jetting off to their next adventure!
