Specialty Coffee Pop-Up, Godspeed, Opens in Columbia

Roger Caughman and Kailey Cunningham recently launched a unique endeavor in Columbia. Their new coffee pop-up, known as Godspeed, has made its debut on Saluda St. in Five Points, collaborating with the longtime local favorite, Papa Jazz Record Shoppe.

Combining Coffee with Vinyl

Godspeed and Papa Jazz have teamed up to create a unique atmosphere where coffee lovers can enjoy their beverage of choice while browsing through a wide collection of vinyl records. The venue, which is located in the former Starbucks location, brings together the perfect blend of caffeine and music.

About Godspeed

Godspeed is not an ordinary coffee shop. It is a ‘for hire’ specialty coffee pop-up founded by seasoned Columbia baristas, Roger Caughman and Kailey Cunningham. The duo, who fell in love both with coffee, and each other, met at Drip Coffee before deciding to establish their own coffee-based business. Their business model is centered around affordability, community-building, and flexibility. They intend to set up their pop-up in various local retail stores across the city, building connections with each hosting venue.

A Community-Centered Approach

Godspeed aspires to build community connections with each pop-up. The goal is to offer an inviting space where coffee enthusiasts can gather, socialize and enjoy their brew. Though they have initially launched their pop-up at 727 Saluda St. in Five Points, the dynamic duo plans to keep the venture mobile, covering as many local retailers as possible. Coffee lovers in Columbia will need to stay tuned to see where Godspeed pops up next.

Pop-Up Duration

For now, Godspeed and Papa Jazz plan to maintain their unique pop-up shop at the current location for about the next three weeks. The combination of coffee and vinyl has already attracted a significant chunk of music-loving coffee drinkers.

Future Plans

While Papa Jazz has been serving music lovers for 44 years, yesterday marked the beginning of a new era for Godspeed. In the future, the coffee pop-up plans to keep surprising Columbia’s coffee drinkers by showing up in unique locations and throwing in interesting collaborations.
