The town of Clemson buzzed with excitement on February 15, 2025, as the Tiger Paw Invitational unfolded at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex. The atmosphere was electric, and the crowd witnessed an incredible showcase of athletic talent, but one performance stood out above the rest: sophomore sprinter JaMeesia Ford from North Carolina.

Ford’s Unbelievable Run

Ford made history during the event, setting a new world lead in the 200m with an astonishing time of 22.34 seconds. This remarkable feat ties her own program record and marks the fastest 200m performance in the NCAA for the entire season. Not only did she take her victory lap with pride, but her time also established a new facility record at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex. It’s clear she is a rising star in the world of collegiate athletics!

Supporting Stars Shine Brightly

Ford wasn’t the only star of the day. Her fellow sophomore teammate, Cynteria James, packed a punch as well, running a personal best of 23.42 seconds in the indoor 200m, which landed her in 14th place overall. Every strong team needs its roster, and James made her mark by showcasing remarkable speed and determination.

Another impressive performer was Sylvia Chelangat, who competed fiercely in the 800m, clocking in at 2:04.61. This achievement not only set a new indoor personal record for Chelangat but also ranked as the second fastest time in program history. It’s a significant milestone that speaks volumes about her hard work and dedication.

High Jump and Relay Highlights

The action didn’t stop there. Cheyla Scott jumped her way to a sensational performance in the high jump, finishing as the runner-up with a height of 1.84m (6-0.25). Scott’s remarkable leap wowed the crowd and added to her team’s growing list of accomplishments.

Lastly, the performance of the women’s 4x400m relay team was another notable highlight of the day. Comprising Zaya Akins, Jayla Jamison, Sylvia Chelangat, and JaMeesia Ford, the team recorded a season-best time of 3:29.77. This remarkable feat ranks seventh in program history and also secured them a fourth-place finish. Additionally, it is the fifth fastest 4x400m relay time recorded in the NCAA this season. Talk about a busy day on the track!

Men’s Side Achievements

Anthony Greenhow dazzled as he achieved a new season-best time of 20.95 seconds in the 200m. Meanwhile, Aidan Hatton reached new heights in the 800m, finishing with a personal best of 1:50.75. The talent on display for both the men’s and women’s teams during this meet was simply inspiring.
