Local education leader Anna Unversaw has been appointed as the inaugural Headmaster for Ascent Classical™ Academies (ACA) in Irmo, South Carolina. The campus, set to open in Fall 2024, will cater to the Irmo/Chapin communities and marks the first two South Carolina campuses for ACA, following its success in Golden, Colorado, where it established an additional five campuses.
Anna Unversaw brings over six years of experience as a head of school and seven years in the education field to her new role. Her background includes leadership and management roles, such as grant coordination for East Tennessee State University. Most recently, Unversaw served as a program lead at Lexington-Richland School District 5 in Irmo, South Carolina.
Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Unversaw holds three degrees from the University of South Carolina, including a bachelor’s degree in government and international relations, a master’s degree in mass communications, and a master’s degree in educational leadership.
Ascent Classical™ Academy of Irmo will initially serve grades K-8 and is situated on Koon Road, located between I-26 and US-176. The school’s mission is centered around providing a classical, content-rich education in the liberal arts and sciences, emphasizing moral character and civic virtue within a structured and disciplined environment.
