Beaufort Native Megan Morris Appointed President of Regional Chamber of Commerce
In a significant announcement, Beaufort native Megan Morris has been named President of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. The decision, which was led by a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors, has been welcomed with wide approval.
Morris, who has been serving as interim president since November 2023, stepped into the vacant position left by the former President, Ian Scott, on his move to North Carolina.
Morris: A Dedicated Local Visionary
Megan Morris is widely respected for her dedication and commitment to the Beaufort community. Her appointment is seen as an affirmation of her ambition and energy to take the Chamber to greater heights, serving its members with a renewed focus and vigor.
The Chair of 2024, Nick Messenburg, Site Manager for MCAS Beaufort, shared his enthusiasm on Morris’ appointment. He emphasized Morris’ dedication to building an efficient team and strengthening relations with government officials at all levels. “The Chamber,” he said, “is going to be at the forefront of Beaufort’s future growth under Morris’ leadership.”
Morris’ Journey with the Chamber
Having joined the Chamber in August 2021 originally as the Director of Member Services, Morris soon rose to the vice-president position. Now, as president, she will act as the executive chief of the Chamber, overseeing all operational aspects, and reporting to the Board of Directors through the annually elected Chair.
Working towards a Positive Legacy
As a native of Beaufort, the new president has always had a heart for her community, expressing a few years ago her plan to work towards its improvement. Morris outlined her focus on advocacy on multiple fronts – local, regional, state, and national – leading to positive change in Beaufort within her tenure.
“I am keen to leave a positive legacy during my tenure as the president of Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce,” Morris shared.
