Cayce, SC – A Suspicious Encounter with a Twist!
Welcome to Cayce, South Carolina! It’s always a lively place, but this week took an interesting turn. If you’ve been out and about in the Riverland Park neighborhood recently, you may have caught wind of some unusual happenings. It all started when our dedicated officers from the Cayce Police Department received a call that would keep them busy for a bit.
ATVs Near the Park
Earlier this week, while doing their routine patrols, one of our public safety officers spotted a group of individuals riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) around the Riverland Park area. Now, as some of you might remember, this area was partially evacuated just last weekend due to flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. So you can see why these ATV riders raised a few eyebrows!
Why the concern? Well, in our small and close-knit community, when something seems off, it’s only natural for folks to speak up! The officer on duty thought it was best to summon backup to investigate the situation further.
Quick Response by Officers
It didn’t take long for the cavalry to arrive – officers from the Criminal Investigation Division, Patrol Division, and Administrative Division were on the scene in no time. Upon arrival, the team wasted no time and began to question the group of ATV riders. It turns out, their casual outing was about to take a serious turn!
The Unexpected Discovery
As our reliable officers continued their investigation, they discovered that one of the ATV riders was in possession of a stolen trailer hooked up to his pickup truck! Can you believe that? Talk about a surprising twist! The individual – now identified as Russell Coffey – was quickly arrested and formally charged with Possession of Stolen Property. Thankfully, he has been released but will be eagerly awaiting his court date.
