Cayce Police Arrest Individual with Stolen Trailer Amid ATV Suspicion Claims

Cayce Police Respond to Suspicious ATV Activity

Cayce, SC – Earlier this week, the Cayce Police Department found themselves busy after a public safety officer noticed some suspicious activity in the Riverland Park neighborhood. This area was recently in the spotlight, having experienced evacuations last weekend due to flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. The officer observed a group riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and promptly called for backup as a precautionary measure.

Teamwork in Action

Responding to the radio call, officers from various divisions, including the Criminal Investigation Division, Patrol Division, and Administrative Division, arrived swiftly to support their colleague. It’s impressive to see how quickly and efficiently the police can mobilize to take care of potential community concerns, isn’t it?

Once on the scene, officers wasted no time. They began to question the ATV riders while they checked the equipment being used. This collective effort showcases some great teamwork—and it paid off! During their investigation, they discovered that one individual in the group was in possession of a stolen trailer attached to his pickup truck.

Arrest Made

The individual found with the stolen property was identified as Russell Coffey. He was taken into custody and formally charged with Possession of Stolen Property. After his arrest, Russell was released, pending a court date. It’s a reminder that police work can lead to uncovering more than what meets the eye, often turning a simple call into a significant arrest.

Community Engagement Matters

The Cayce Police Department is reminding residents of the importance of community vigilance. They ask everyone to remember that if you see something suspicious, you should definitely say something. It only takes one pair of watchful eyes to help keep our neighborhoods safe! For non-emergency reports, you can reach out to Cayce’s police at (803) 794-0456. If you are in Lexington County or nearby unincorporated areas, the number is (803) 785-2521. And of course, in any life-threatening emergencies, don’t hesitate to dial 911.

A Call to Action

It’s incredible to see how quickly and decisively our local law enforcement acts to maintain safety in the community. Whether it’s checking on suspicious activity near Riverland Park or investigating an unattended car in a parking lot, police are always ready to respond. This situation serves as an important reminder for everyone in areas like West Columbia, Springdale, and Pine Ridge—remain vigilant, and don’t hesitate to participate in community efforts for safety.

Staying connected AND informed helps foster a friendly atmosphere where we can look out for each other. By reporting suspicious activities, you contribute to peace in our suburban oasis!
