In Irmo, South Carolina, local law enforcement officials have apprehended several juveniles in relation to attempted car break-ins. Replying to a call in the 1400 Block of Lake Murray Boulevard, officers encountered several males attempting to break into cars.
It is reported that the suspects were seen pulling on car door handles, indicating an intent to break in. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, all five suspects attempted to evade, prompting immediate pursuit.
Cooperation between the Irmo Police Department, the Columbia Police Department, and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department led to the successful apprehension of all juveniles.
Upon being spotted, the juveniles attempted to escape, fleeing the scene immediately. However, due to a coordinated response from multiple law enforcement agencies, they were effectively detained.
Subsequent investigations uncovered that the juveniles had arrived in the area driving a recently-stolen vehicle. In addition, two of the detainees were identified as runaways from another district.
All detainees were released to their legal guardians post-apprehension. They are scheduled to appear in family court where they will face charges related to criminal conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, possession of a stolen vehicle, and tampering with motor vehicles.
This incident once again underlines the necessity for vigilant law enforcement and the importance of inter-department cooperation in combating crime. The timely response by local law enforcement agencies ensured the situation was swiftly managed, potentially preventing further criminal acts.
