Goodbye Capital City Club, Hello Growth!

If you’ve ever been to the Capital City Club, which used to occupy the very space Erskine College is moving into, you may know it was one of the premier private clubs in the area. However, after a long run of serving its members since the building’s construction in 1988, the club closed its doors in February 2024. The operators cited issues post-COVID as being a major factor in the decision to shut down. And while it’s truly the end of an era, the arrival of the Charter Institute promises new opportunities for growth in education!

What’s in Store for the New Office?

The anticipated renovation will transform the 25th floor, which will now include 23 new offices, two conference rooms, and wait for it—two break rooms! Yes, that’s right! There’s even a dedicated boardroom and other flexible workspace options. Sounds like a place where dreams of better education can come to life!

Currently, the Charter Institute is working out of the building’s third floor, which they’ve called home since May 2018. But with an increasing number of schools and students relying on their services, it was clear that a bigger base was needed. “As one of the largest school districts in South Carolina, the institute had needed to expand its office space for some time,” said Ashley Epperson, spokesperson for the Charter Institute. It’s exciting to see how this growth will help them better meet the needs of the community!
