Exciting New Housing Development on the Horizon for Columbia’s Bull Street District

Exciting New Development Coming to Columbia’s Bull Street District

Columbia, S.C. is buzzing with excitement as development plans for the Bull Street district roll ahead. A fresh project, known as ‘Midtown at BullStreet’, aims to carve out a thriving community by adding more than 700 housing units to the area. With a special focus on a variety of housing options—particularly what’s being called “attainable housing”—this project is set to meet the growing demand for diverse living spaces.

Updates from the Developer

In a recent meeting held Monday afternoon, Kevin Connelly, the project’s owner and developer from Connelly Builders and Connelly Development, shared some exciting updates. He informed the committee that the construction is buzzing along, with the housing portion nearing the finish line. “The total development cost is $27 million,” Connelly disclosed. While there have been a few bumps on the road that delayed the timeline, he’s optimistic about completion. “We expect the townhomes to be ready by late December this year, and the apartment units in the larger building should be finished by late April of 2025,” he added.

A Home for Over 1,000 Residents

Once everything is wrapped up, this vibrant community is projected to house over 1,000 residents. Imagine bustling streets filled with friendly neighbors and community spirit! Residents will enjoy a host of amenities, which include a cozy community room, an exercise facility for fitness buffs, a quiet library for book lovers, and a computer center to keep everyone connected. Youngsters will be thrilled with a charming playground, and the gazebo will be the perfect spot for gatherings and relaxation.

High Demand Anticipated

Connelly seems certain that demand will be sky-high once the doors open. “The property will fill up very quickly. Typically, whenever we go to market with a community like this, it’ll lease up in three months,” he confidently stated. Sounds like a hot spot for newcomers!

Aiming for Variety

The heart of the Midtown development is about variety. By creating a mix of affordable rental units and for-sale townhomes alongside housing for seniors, they’re catering to a broad spectrum of needs. Connelly passionately expressed, “There’s a real need for housing in this community, and not just any housing, but a variety of types that can meet different needs.” It’s clear that they’re focusing on creating a place where everyone feels at home.

Looking Ahead

But that’s not all—plans for the district also involve adding student housing in the future. This effort aims to further expand living options in this growing area of Columbia. For individuals or families interested in becoming a part of this new community, Connelly emphasized that all details on how to apply for housing will be available on the project’s website.

Why Columbia?

Columbia is on the rise, and with projects like Midtown at BullStreet, it’s becoming a more attractive place to live. With the blend of different housing styles and a commitment to affordability, it’s clear that developers are prioritizing the needs of the community as they move forward.

As the Bull Street district gets set for this exciting transformation, residents are eagerly looking towards a new chapter filled with opportunities, comfort, and vibrant community life. Who wouldn’t want to be part of such an exciting development in their own backyard?

Stay tuned for more updates as the construction continues and the anticipation grows! This is Columbia’s moment to shine with new dreams and aspirations.
