Hey, Irmo! Mark your calendars for an event that you won’t want to miss. On Thursday, September 19th, Lexington-Richland School District Five is hosting a fun-filled block party right in the heart of the Harbison Gardens Community. This special gathering aims to connect families and students with essential community resources, and it’s sure to be a blast!

What’s Happening?

The festivities will kick off at 4 p.m. and wrap up around 6 p.m. over at the Harbison Gardens Community (located at 401 Harbison Gardens, Columbiana Drive). A whole dozen organizations will have booths set up, ready to share vital information about the various programs and services they offer. Whether you’re looking for educational resources, health tips, or after-school activities, this event is the place to be!

Why You Should Attend

So, why is a block party like this so important? School District Five officials highlight that events like these provide a fantastic opportunity for students and families to learn about available resources in a friendly, laid-back atmosphere. It’s a great way to meet new people, network with local organizations, and discover various services that can benefit you and your family.

Not only will you find information at this block party, but it’s also a perfect chance to connect with your neighbors! With food, fun, and activities in the mix, there will be something for everyone. Plus, it’s a lovely way to spend an evening in the community, enjoying the warm September weather.

What to Expect

As you explore the booths, you can expect to see a range of representatives from different organizations. They’ll be on hand to answer any questions you might have and provide you with pamphlets, brochures, and other materials that lay out what they offer. This is a great opportunity to learn about after-school programs, mental health resources, tutoring services, and more!

Kids will also have a fantastic time! The block party is family-friendly, meaning your little ones can enjoy activities designed just for them. Think things like games, face painting, and perhaps even a few surprises! The goal is to create a sense of community and belonging, making it easy for families to feel connected not just to the school district, but to each other too.

If you’re part of any local organization that provides services to families and would like to participate, contact the School District Five Community Support Services Office. This event thrives on community involvement, and all are welcome to join in sharing invaluable resources.
