Annual Beaufort County Walk for Water Announce Dates
The eight annual Beaufort County Walk for Water has been scheduled for September 14 and 21 this year. The walk expects to bring together an estimated 1,000 walkers aimed at raising about $100,000 geared towards combating the global water crisis.
Walking for a Cause – Global Water Crisis
Beaufort County Walk for Water is an initiative that advocates for the global water crisis and raises funds to provide clean and safe water across the globe. The proceeds from the funds raised will be directed to Water Mission, a Christian-based engineering Non-Governmental Organization in Charleston. Water Mission builds and provides safe water solutions in developing countries and disaster-stricken areas.
“The money the walk raises makes a life-changing difference for generations in communities around the world,” said Robert Lasher, Beaufort County Walk for Water committee chair. “As little as $50 provides one person ongoing access to safe, clean water,” Lasher added.
Registration Fees and Main Event on How to Change A life
Registration is currently open at Walk for Water website. For adults aged 18 and up, the fee is set at $25, with $10 set for youths between the age of 5 and 17. Those at the age of 4 and below can participate for free.
Participants will be urged to carry a bucket of water for a three-mile walk. This gesture symbolizes the daily burden faced by women and children in the developing world who walk long distances to fetch often contaminated water. Unsafe water poses a severe risk as it can lead to death, with one person dying from water-related illnesses every 37 seconds worldwide.
Limited-Time Matching Gift Donation
By registering early, participants get the upper hand to utilize a limited-time matching gift donation of up to $10,000. The $5 discount is also available to those who register by Sept. 4 by using the code EARLYBIRD on the registration site. All participants get a T-shirt, however, they must register by August 13 to ensure their preferred sizes are guaranteed.
