In a bittersweet announcement that’s surely tugging at the heartstrings of coffee lovers across the Midlands, Bart’s Crazy Good Coffee has closed its location at 7949 Broad River Road in Irmo. The local coffee shop made this heartfelt revelation on their Facebook page on October 16, telling fans that the last day of business at this locale was just a few days later, on October 19.
In their Facebook post, the team behind Bart’s expressed their “tearful sorrow” over this decision. They explained that a combination of factors—including a downturn in the economic environment—forced their hand. Facing challenges is never easy for a small business, and it seems like the Irmo spot was hit a little harder than anticipated. The coffee shop mentioned, “Due to the impact from the downturn in the economic environment, along with a few other factors we have had to make the incredibly hard decision to end operations at our Irmo location.”
But it’s not all sad news for the coffee brand. Bart’s remains optimistic and encourages their loyal customers to visit their other location at 1311 Dutch Fork Road in Ballentine, which is still open and apparently thriving. According to the company, business has been good there, and they see a “bright future ahead”.
In their announcement, Bart’s explained how they are shifting their business model at the Ballentine location. They are excited about a new direction that emphasizes a mix of “an extensive lineup of coffee, food offerings, and ice cream.” It sounds like they’re gearing up for some delicious additions that could attract a whole new crowd of coffee enthusiasts and families alike!
The now-closed coffee shop in Irmo was actually the former home of Tribal Coffee Co. before Bart’s Crazy Good Coffee took over operations just a couple of months ago in August 2023. It’s always tough to say goodbye to a local hangout; the brief window of operation left many wishing they could have experienced the full essence that Bart’s had to offer at that location.
Bart’s Crazy Good Coffee first entered the scene in 2020 when they opened their first brick-and-mortar shop in Chapin. Unfortunately, that location had to close its doors earlier this year in February, which only adds to the wave of change for this up-and-coming coffee business.
So as we bid farewell to the Irmo location, it’s important to remember that Bart’s Crazy Good Coffee is still brewing up a storm in Ballentine. If you’re in the area and craving a fresh cup of coffee, some delightful food, or even a scoop of ice cream, make sure to stop by their remaining location. It’s the perfect spot to grab your favorite drink and show your support for local businesses!
While the closure of the Broad River Road location is undoubtedly a loss felt by many, it seems like trust and community spirit will guide Bart’s Crazy Good Coffee to navigate the next chapter of their story. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable life can be, especially in the small business world. But with positive energy and passion for great coffee, we believe there’s still plenty of good brews to come!
