Barnes & Noble Set to Open New Store in Columbiana Centre Mall on October 9, 2024

Exciting News for Book Lovers in Columbia!

Attention all book lovers in Columbia! There’s a special date to mark on your calendars: October 9, 2024. That’s when the national bookseller, Barnes & Noble, will be opening a brand-new store in the Columbiana Centre mall, which is located in the bustling Harbison shopping district, a short drive northwest of downtown Columbia.

Your New Spot for Books Awaits

According to Janine Flanigan, the senior director of store planning and design for Barnes & Noble, this new location will sit in storefront No. 1222—conveniently just south of the food court in the mall. If you’ve visited before, you might remember that this space was previously home to a clothing store called Edge, so it’s making a delightful transition from fashion to literature! Nearby stores include Pro Image Sports, Aldo, and Windsor, making it easy to pop in for some shopping before or after you grab your favorite read.

Barnes & Noble has been teasing this new location all summer on social media, sharing exciting construction updates that have left fans eager for the grand opening. The store will be a spacious 5,800 square feet and will feature the same inviting look and feel that customers have come to love in their other locations across the country.

A Beloved Return to Harbison

This will actually be the second new Barnes & Noble location in Columbia this year. Earlier in 2024, the company had to close its former store at Richland Mall in Forest Acres, which is undergoing a massive $100 million overhaul. But fear not, they relocated just a few miles away to the Shoppes at Woodhill on Garners Ferry Road, and that new spot opened in March, quickly becoming a hit with local bookworms.

For many, the new Columbiana Centre store marks a nostalgic return for Barnes & Noble to the Harbison area. There used to be a location on 278-A Harbison Blvd., right across the street from the mall, but that store closed back in 2013. With its reopening, local bibliophiles can once again enjoy the comforts of browsing, reading, and buying books in an enjoyable setting.

Harbison: The Place to Shop

The Harbison Boulevard area is not just any retail location; it’s a vibrant hub that attracts both residents and visitors alike. With over 31,000 cars passing by daily near the mall, it’s clear that this area is a bustling center for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Before the grand opening of the new Barnes & Noble location, mark your calendar, grab your fellow book lovers, and get ready to immerse yourself in a world of stories, knowledge, and creativity! Whether you’re a fan of fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, or cookbooks, there’s something for everyone at Barnes & Noble.

So, what are you waiting for? Circle October 9 on your calendar, and prepare to dive into a new reading adventure right in your local mall! 📚✨
