Columbia Prepares for the Exciting 76th Annual Trinity Bazaar with Food, Fun, and Community Spirit

Columbia Gears Up for the 76th Annual Trinity Bazaar

Columbia, get ready for a day filled with fun, food, and fantastic finds! Tomorrow, on October 26, the beautiful Trinity Episcopal Cathedral will be opening its doors for the highly anticipated 76th Annual Trinity Bazaar. This is an event that brings the community together and supports local non-profit organizations, making it a heartwarming occasion for everyone involved. Just a heads up, there might be a little shower early on, but nothing should dampen the spirits! Expect a low of around 60 degrees, with light winds setting the scene for a cozy autumn day.

A Little Bit of History

You might be wondering, how did this bazaar get started? Well, it all began way back in 1948, not far from where the event takes place today. The first-ever bazaar was a simple dinner and live auction aimed at raising funds for local residents diagnosed with tuberculosis. Fast forward to 2024, and the mission has grown significantly. According to this year’s Bazaar Chair, Courtney Worsham, “We are proud to continue and expand this mission every year.” This year, the bazaar aims to raise over $40,000 for five local non-profits that have been selected through a grant application process.

Beneficiaries of the Bazaar

If you’re curious about who benefits from the bazaar, here are the lucky organizations for 2024: The Alston Wilkes Society, The Cooperative Ministry, Dyslexia Resource Center, EMS Closet, and Hickory Top Farms. Each of these organizations plays a vital role in meeting the everyday needs of our Columbia neighbors. If you want to learn more about their important work, feel free to visit trinitysc.org/bazaar.

A Day Full of Activities

The bazaar isn’t just about shopping and raising funds—it’s a full family-friendly experience! Here’s what you can expect if you head over:

  • Homemade Foods: Indulge in a variety of homemade goodies including pickles, preserves, relishes, baked treats, and even frozen foods that you can stock up on!
  • Hand-Crafted Items: From beautiful home decor to stylish wardrobe pieces, there will be plenty of unique gifts and items to choose from.
  • Second-Hand Finds: Dive into a treasure trove of gently used clothing, books, furniture, and even some musical instruments that might strike your fancy.
  • Kids’ Zone: Don’t forget to bring the little ones! There’s a dedicated zone with games and rides just for them!
  • Outdoor Café: Enjoy a delicious lunch from the outdoor café while soaking in the community atmosphere.

Join the Fun!

The 76th Annual Trinity Bazaar kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. at Trinity Cathedral, located at 1100 Sumter St.. Whether you’re looking for some delightful homemade treats, charming crafts, or just a lovely day out with family and friends, there’s something for everyone.

So, grab your friends and family, and come on down to the bazaar! It’s a wonderful opportunity to shop, enjoy good food, and engage with our local community—all while contributing to great causes. We can’t wait to see you there!
