Indigo and Iris: Adorable Puppies Awaiting Loving Homes in Columbia!

Indigo and Iris: Adorable Puppies Ready for Adoption in Columbia!

Columbia, S.C. is buzzing with excitement as two delightful puppies find their way into the hearts of dog lovers! Meet Indigo and Iris, 11-week-old Pit Bull/Hound mix sisters who are eagerly looking for their forever homes at Pawmetto Lifeline.

A Heartwarming Rescue Story

These sweet little pups, along with their mother and eight siblings, were sadly dumped at the end of a driveway in a rural area. The home they were left at belonged to an elderly man who did his best to care for them. However, as the puppy population grew, it became too much for him to manage. Thankfully, the furry family was rescued and divided into foster homes, where they’ve been given love, care, and lots of socialization!

Out of the original group, six puppies have already found loving homes, leaving Indigo, Iris, and one other sibling still on the lookout for families. With their affectionate nature and playful spirits, it’s no wonder they’re grabbing attention!

Dogs with Personality

Indigo and Iris are not just cute—they are social and friendly little pups. They love to play with toys and are always ready for some fun! Whether it’s running around, giving kisses, or snuggling up for a cuddle, these sisters know how to lighten up a room. You can often find their tails wagging in excitement, especially when they’re showered with praise for good behavior, like going potty outside. And guess what? They’ve made a fantastic start on potty training!

These pups are also crate-trained and they are so well-adjusted that they sleep soundly through the night without making a peep! With their friendly disposition, they get along great with other dogs, kids, and even cats—making them perfect companions for any family.

Understanding the Responsibility of Puppy Adoption

However, it’s important to remember that bringing a puppy into your home is a big commitment. Puppies, including Indigo and Iris, will need your time and attention to develop into well-behaved dogs. Many puppies find themselves returned to shelters simply because families weren’t fully prepared for the responsibilities involved. As exciting as having a puppy can be, training and teaching them manners is crucial!

Right now, both Indigo and Iris are in the teething phase, just like human babies. To keep them happy and busy, simply give them a chew treat to gnaw on. They are quite smart, picking up on redirection and understanding a firm voice when needed. The earlier you dedicate time to training and socializing your puppy, the better they’ll behave as they grow!

Another tip for potential adopters: having a confident adult dog at home can greatly benefit puppies like Indigo and Iris. A seasoned canine can teach them the ropes and help them adjust to their new life!

Your Chance to Adopt

Both Indigo and Iris, along with other adorable pups, will be available for adoption this Saturday, September 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you’re interested in adding one of these joyful puppies to your family, make sure to complete an adoption application online before your visit at www.pawmettolifeline.org.

Pawmetto Lifeline is located at 1275 Bower Parkway, Columbia, South Carolina 29212. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bring home a new furry friend. Indigo and Iris can’t wait to share their love and joy with someone special!
