Excitement Grows in Columbia as Early Voting Hits Record Numbers
Columbia is buzzing with excitement as early voting for the upcoming general election approaches an impressive milestone! As of October 29, over 100,000 residents in Richland and Lexington counties have already cast their ballots during this early voting period. With nearly a week left for early birds to make their voices heard, South Carolina is witnessing unprecedented interest, with more than 865,000 votes counted statewide.
Breaking Records
Early voting kicked off on October 21, and what a kickoff it was! A staggering 125,000 people turned out on the first day alone, breaking South Carolina’s previous one-day voting record. People across the state are clearly eager to participate in this democratic process. In Richland County, approximately 64,000 voters have already cast their votes, making it the fourth highest in the state. Neighbors in Lexington County are also stepping up, with about 47,000 votes tallied so far!
Time is Running Out
If you haven’t had the chance to vote yet, don’t worry—there’s still time! Early voting runs through November 2. Polling locations are open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving you plenty of opportunities to get your ballot in before Election Day. Remember, you must have registered to vote by the deadline of October 14, so check your status before heading out!
