Sean Kim, who first tasted Carolina barbecue in 1994, decided to introduce his own twist by opening MOA Korean BBQ and Bar. Thinly sliced prime brisket grilled right at your table? Yes, please! “When customers come here, they often experience barbecue flavors that remind them of their beloved Southern food while stepping into something new,” he said. Kim wants his guests to embrace the good old Southern vibe while enjoying the novelty of Korean flavors.

If you’re more of a traditionalist, there’s City Limits Barbecue, where Pitmaster Robbie Robinson delights diners with a tray that offers a little bit of everything! From Carolina chopped pork to Texas smoked brisket, every bite feels like a delicious trip through the American South. “Our barbecue isn’t just about the meat; it’s a cultural experience,” Robinson shares. All the sauces, from tangy mayo-based to sweet vinegar, line the table waiting to complement your meal.

Creating a Taste of Trinidad at Trini Lime

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you come across Trini Lime Caribbean Cafe. Sullange Solomon, the executive chef, manages to incorporate the vibrant flavors of Trinidadian barbecue into her dishes. “For us, barbecue isn’t just about the food; it’s about community and celebration,” she recalls. The barbecued chicken paired with fried rice and chow mein is an absolute crowd favorite and shows how food from her roots offers a nostalgic taste of home to those who grew up with it.
