Rapid Shelter Columbia Receives Spotlight at State Management Conference
Columbia, SC – An impressive initiative to combat homelessness, known as Rapid Shelter Columbia, drew immense attention as it took center stage at the South Carolina City and County Management Association (SCCCMA) Conference that occurred between January 18th to 20th hosted at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. The city has dexterously repurposed the land of the former Inclement Weather Center to construct around 50 Pallet sleeping cabins. These units serve as a momentary shelter, providing a secure and supportive residence for individuals grappling with homelessness.
In addition, as a part of this comprehensive initiative, prior shared sleeping quarters on the premises will continue to function as overflow facilities during harsh weather conditions.
