Chapin Gears Up for National Wreaths Across America Day
Hello, Chapin! Get ready for a heartwarming event that shows our love and respect for those who bravely served our country. This coming December 14, Chapin Christian Community Church will be joining over 4,225 locations nationwide to host a special wreath-laying ceremony as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.
When and Where
The ceremony kicks off at 12 p.m. at 415 Lexington Ave. in Chapin. We’ll start with the official ceremony, and then it’s time to roll up our sleeves and lay wreaths on the headstones of 52 veterans in the Chapin Christian Community Church Cemetery and the nearby cemetery at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. It’s a wonderful chance to participate in something incredibly meaningful!
A Day of Remembrance
This event is all about remembrance, honor, and education. It aims to ensure that the memories of our veterans continue to shine on. Coordinated by the Chapin American Legion Post 193 alongside local volunteers and sponsors, this ceremony is a culmination of yearlong efforts to raise funds for the wreaths. Isn’t that amazing?
Special Guests
To add to the occasion, Chapin Mayor Al Koon will be present, and we’re excited to welcome Major General Jeffrey Jones, the Deputy Adjutant General for the State of South Carolina, as our guest speaker. Both of these figures will surely add some insightful words to the ceremony.

According to the latest forecast, Chapin will start the day with showers and a possible thunderstorm in the morning, which will turn into partly cloudy skies by the afternoon. Expect a morning high of 67°F, but don’t get too comfy because the temperature will drop to around 45°F later in the day. Winds will be from the west-southwest at 15 to 25 mph, with a 100% chance of rain and locally heavy downpours likely. So if you’re joining us, a cozy jacket and some sturdy shoes might be in order!
