Exciting Development in West Columbia: Say Hello to Faith Hill Townhomes!
West Columbia is gearing up for a fantastic new addition to the neighborhood! Developers have set their sights on a vacant 10-acre plot along Platt Springs Road, which is getting a makeover into a charming townhome subdivision known as Faith Hill. After two years of planning, this project is finally rolling into action!
A Little Slice of Home
Nestled between Highway 321 and Platt Springs Road, this wooded area sits right across from Faith Lutheran Church. The new development will come to life with 36 buildings housing a total of 69 units, each with about 1,500 square feet of living space. It’s perfect for folks looking to settle down in a cozy, affordable home. Scott Morrison, one of the developers, expressed enthusiasm, saying, “We’re working hard to make these homes attainable for the average person.” Now that sounds great!
Making Progress
Mark your calendars! On November 25, the city’s planning commission gave a green light to the development plans, and construction crews have already started clearing the land. They are busy placing water and sewer lines to make sure everything is ready to go. However, it’s worth mentioning that they still have to get the final engineering approval from both the city of West Columbia and Lexington County before all systems are a go for building.
With seasoned local builders, Hurricane Builders, handling the construction (they’ve already whipped up 11 subdivisions around Columbia), residents can look forward to a swift development process. Morrison shared his optimism, noting, “I would expect by the end of next year, there are homes close to being move-in ready.” However, the move-in dates are projected for the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026, so patience will be key!
Location, Location, Location!
Now let’s talk about the spot where this lovely new development is taking shape. Platt Springs Road is a bustling route connecting several rural areas to downtown Columbia. With an impressive 10,500 vehicles traveling this road each day, it’s clear that this is a vital artery for locals. Interestingly, since the subdivision is a modest size, a traffic impact study was not deemed necessary, which is a relief for many.
A Growing Community
This new housing project comes at the perfect time, as Lexington County is projected to see an incredible 8% population increase over the next ten years, bringing in around 25,000 new residents! To keep up with the growing demand for homes, at least 400 homes are currently under construction in West Columbia, according to research data.
Feeling the excitement? You’re not alone! There have been several other housing projects popping up in West Columbia recently. For instance, city officials just approved plans for 55 single-family homes to be built on Comanchee Trail. Oh, and let’s not forget the major redevelopment project for the Capitol Square shopping center, which is set to feature a four-story complex with a whopping 224 multi-family units!
Wrapping Up
With all these developments in the pipeline, West Columbia is ready to welcome new families and create a thriving community. The Faith Hill subdivision is just one of many exciting changes coming to the area. Whether you’re a long-time resident or a newcomer, there’s no denying that the future looks bright for West Columbia!
Stay tuned for more updates as this lovely new development takes shape—who knows, you might just find your dream home in Faith Hill!
