The South Carolina Telecommunications and Broadband Association has officially transformed into the Palmetto Broadband Coalition (PBC)! Yes, you heard it right! This fresh new name comes with a dedication as deep as the roots of our beloved state tree – the Palmetto.
A Legacy of Connectivity
Now, let’s take a stroll down memory lane. The roots of this organization run deep, dating all the way back to 1934 when it first started under the name of the South Carolina Independent Telephone Association. Over the decades, the organization has had several name changes reflecting its evolution, but the mission has always remained the same: ensuring that everyone in South Carolina stays connected. Isn’t that amazing?
Why the Change?
Will Helmly, the CEO of Home Telecom and Chairman of the newly formed PBC, states it perfectly, saying, “South Carolina is changing and so are we.” This transformation isn’t just about a new name; it reflects a renewed commitment to provide all South Carolinians with reliable, high-speed internet.
