Columbia and Greenville Prepare for Heartwarming Holiday Good Night Lights Event to Spread Joy to Hospitalized Children

Hello Columbia and Greenville — It’s time to spread some holiday cheer!

As the air turns crisp and the countdown to the holidays begins, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital is gearing up for a truly heartwarming event. They are inviting everyone in the community to participate in the Good Night Lights event, which promises to bring some much-needed brightness to the faces of children who are hospitalized this season. Mark your calendars for December 1 in Columbia and December 8 in Greenville, because this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Why Good Night Lights?

We all know the holidays can be a tough time for families who have loved ones in the hospital. The medical director of Prisma Health’s Children’s Hospital in Greenville, Dr. Robin LaCroix, empathizes with these families. She says, “For children and families especially, it can be tough to be hospitalized, but it’s even tougher over the holidays. We rely on the community to help us spread light and positivity through what seems like simple gestures but makes a tremendous impact on our kids’ and families’ perseverance.”

That’s exactly what Good Night Lights is all about! This event aims to brighten up the holiday season for young patients and their families, helping create a sense of connection and joy during a challenging time.

How Does It Work?

A little bit of magic happens during Good Night Lights. Community members come together to shine flashlights or blink their car lights toward the hospital windows, sending well wishes and a sprinkle of holiday cheer straight to the kids inside. It’s also a chance for the children to respond by shining their own flashlights back. Talk about a touch of festive fun!

But wait, there’s more! Participants are encouraged to deck out their cars with decorations, getting everyone into the holiday spirit. What a wonderful way to make the event even more festive!
