Inclusive workforce diversity concept
WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Renowned community organizations, Able South Carolina, and Hire Me SC have announced their plans for the 2024 Employer Summit. The event, which marks its 9th edition, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, from 10 am to 3 pm, coinciding with the National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The Philips Market Center in West Columbia will be the venue.
The Employer Summit serves as a one-day conference where business managers, executives, and HR professionals gather insights on building and retaining a diverse workforce, including individuals with disabilities. The convention, with the theme “Access to Good Jobs for All,” will focus on illustrating how this inclusion can fortify their workforce, ensuring an accessible and supportive working environment.
Marly Saade, Director of Employment Programs at Able South Carolina, highlighted the serious under-employment of disabled people despite the considerable figure they make in the community. “One in three South Carolinians have a disability; however, 60% of people with disabilities are unemployed. This is a workforce employers can’t afford to miss out on,” Saade said.
The 2024 Summit will delve into several key topics promoting inclusive policies and practices that mutually benefit employees and employers. From highlighting best practices in hiring and employing people with disabilities, the discourse will encompass a panel session where businesses share their experiences and strategies concerning their disability-focused Employee Resource Group. Furthermore, the conversation will also explore the intersection of race and disabilities and discuss the utilization of artificial intelligence for fostering and preserving inclusion in the workplace.
The standard registration fee for the event is within reach at $95; however, an early bird registration special is available at $75, up till June 30th. SHRM and HRCI credits for attendees are currently subject to approval.
